The lats are prone to tightness in some individuals and using the foam roll for
SMFR (Self MyoFascial Release) is a method used for reducing that muscle
tightness by yourself. Using proper technique is essential for rolling out the
lats completely on the foam roll from origin to insertion. You may not realize
it but the muscle tightness in the lats can cause movement impairment during
chest pressing exercises so make sure you perform your SMFR on the lats with the
foam roller if you have any symptoms of overly tight lats.
