A tight IT (IlioTibial) band sometimes caused by a muscle
imbalance can be a culprit in many annoying pains and discomfort
associated with excessive standing, walking or running. Unfortunately static stretching
alone is not usually effective for relieving IT band tightness which is
where IT Band SMFR (Self Myo-Fascial Release) on the foam roller comes in.
While performing this self massage can be extremely painful for some, it is
important to keep strict form and massage out all the knots in the IT band
with the technique outlined in the following video.
