Clapping Push Ups

Clapping push ups is an upper body plyometrics exercise which is primarily used to train explosive upper body pushing power. The actual clapping part of these plyometric push-ups is optional as it really only serves as a distraction during the powerful push. Even though clapping push-ups are primarily for improving explosive power they are great for working a specific type of type II fast twitch muscle fiber. In theory, to build the pecs optimally, working all muscle fibers will yield the best results and these clapping push-ups almost exclusively work the fast twitch muscle fibers.
