Push Up w/ Rotation

Progressing the difficulty of an exercise does not always have to involve adding weights and increasing the resistance. In the case of the pushup with rotation adding a completely new motion on to the push-up will dramatically increase the difficulty as well as the functionality of standard push-ups. The transverse plane rotation helps this exercise completely work the core as well as shoulder stability and of course strength in the chest, anterior deltoids and triceps. Ways to increase the difficulty of the pushup with rotation is to add wrist weights or hold dumbbells while performing the exercise. Using an unstable or elevated surface for the feet is another way to increase the stabilization component of this functional floor exercise.
