Big 40s or leg rolls is an exercise which can be used to attempt to focus on
the lower abdominals. Since your hips are flexed during this exercise, the hip
flexors will play a large part but it is your job to focus on your abdominals.
To make sure you are focusing on your lower abdominals make sure your lower back
is in contact with the ground and it does not arch off of the floor. To prevent
your lower back from arching you need to posteriorly rotate your pelvis and keep
it from arching (anterior pelvic tilt). In addition to keeping a posterior
pelvic tilt make sure you don't let your legs down too far as it will force you
to arch your back. This is especially the case if your legs are
disproportionately large.
