Dumbbell Step Ups

In a world where 'functional training' is a catch phrase used for almost everything, dumbbell step-ups truly are a 'functional exercise' as they emulate a very common ADL (Activity of Daily Living). The dumbbell step up trains the leg muscles as well as the core in addition to coordination and balance. You may use a barbell instead of dumbbells if desired. You may also hold the dumbbells at a high (dumbbells at shoulder level) or low (dumbbells hanging at your site) position for this exercise. Simultaneous upper body exercises can be added to the dumbbell step to create challenging and time saving combination exercises.
