Close Grip Pull Ups

Close grip pull-ups are a variation of pull-ups which largely focuses on arm strength as opposed to wide grip pull-ups which require more strength of the lats. Whether you are using a triangle (seated row) bar on top of a straight pull-up bar or using a pull-up bar with a close grip attachment, the closer grip will force you to use your arms and forearms.

Close grip pull-ups are often performed after fatigue has set in from wide grip pull-ups or for people who are simply too weak to perform enough reps of wide grip pull-ups. Nevertheless, close grip pull-ups are a great exercise to strengthen the pulling muscle group of the upper body for anyone who can perform enough sets and reps to obtain effective training volume.
