Behind the neck press, or barbell shoulder press is perhaps the best and
worst exercise for the shoulders. It is the best because it can really target
the deltoids with a heavy amount of resistance to help build aesthetically
pleasing shoulders as well as strengthen them. It can be considered the worst
shoulders exercise by some because for some people the behind the neck press can
lead to both acute and overuse injuries of the shoulder. The most basic piece of
advice is to use common sense. If you feel any pain or discomfort when
performing this shoulder press, stop and do something different such as dumbbell shoulder press.
